“The installations and large-format drawings by German artist Brigitte Waldach (born 1966) are drawn with graphic precision in red gouache or pigment stick on handmade paper. Her figures move through an architecture or landscape outlined with just a few strokes, often accompanied by words, sentences or whole clouds of text that trail through and beyond the figures. Creating passageways and frameworks between withdrawal and reality, in which a web of thoughts, associations and hinted stories seems to frame the figures and keep them from falling into the abyss. There is a constant play or tension between clearly defined spaces which are tangible and voids which are undefined and infinite, reality and the world of imagination. This is a central theme in which Waldach’s references emotionalized settings found in literature, culture and cinema.” (via)
